hey, gmail users? quick question, help me out!

I'm trying to decide if I should move all my email to the inbox and just use search, or keep putting stuff in folders. What do you do? Comments are appreciated if you want to elucidate on your reasoning.

Curse your binary question construction. I do a bit of both. I should use folders more often, though, because they keep things tidy.

I use the label system, works perfectly fine for me - and is easy to use on phones, too.

Both, in that the only foldering I do is automatic. For example, a filter set to tag everything that contains something like "receipt", "invoice", "order", and so on, in a certain way.
Other than that, it's inbox/archive all the way.

Both, searching a folder is much handier. I have 40ish folders / sub folders.

Since Gmail uses tags, not folders, all mail is basically in the inbox (All Mail). As Mark said, filters do most of the tagging and archiving. Anything else is either tagged manually or just archived.

Thanks everyone. I've now dumped everything into the inbox - it was more to do with how this syncs with Apple's Mail.app, but I think the search idea is probably faster for me.
Mark, shall try filters when I figure them out!

I use labels and manage them with ActiveInbox firefox plugin. This gives you buttons to lable and move stuff in the email. It is very cool.

Gmail has folders now? Anyways... I archive them to "All Mail" after reading.
